The Rise of Right-wing politics

Brazil too swings rightward.
It seems the world is by and large in a Rightward swing. The rise of illiberal majoritarian democracies in many countries on the one hand indicate a crisis of liberalism itself and on the other hand the world itself seems to be in the midst of a power -flux; a period of uncertain transitions in state -society power relationship.
Part of the problem is that the post-second world war consensus of democracy, development and human rights face a backlash. There are many reasons of this disenchantment . One of the major problem is that many of those inspiring values that emerged in the late forties and early fifties have become stale when they were seen as a part of the power -establishment that did lip service to such values though did exactly the opposite, serving the rich and powerful establishment. And many of those who paid lip service to liberal values were seen by many as corrupt political elites in nexus with the rich. This happened to the left learning workers party in Brazil, similar to what happened to the Congress Party in the UPAII . This is also what I used to call as Hilary Clinton Syndrome where she was seen by many as a part of the jaded liberal power establishment.
Bulldozing economic globalization and neo-liberal free market ideology gave job to the middle and upper middle class. While it benefited an economic minority of upper middle class and middle class people of of ten to fifteen percent , it paradoxically pushed down those part of the lower end of the middle class which did not have the skill or resources to compete in the new labour market.
Those who lost out in neo-liberal economic framework deeply distrusted the establishment that did lip service of democracy, good governance, development etc and hardly did anything to create jobs for those in the lower economic strata, poor and marginalized. They also saw 'outsiders' coming and taking their jobs, resulting in a new identity politics emerged out of economic inequality and deprivation inequality .
Many of the extreme right wing politicians are propped up by a new breed of crony capitalists who would like to create new monopoly in the market with the support of new protectionism. This is happening in many countries- and now Brazil too.
