Statue politics and populist Authoritarianism.

There is a connection between statues and the extent of authoritarian tendency. Bigger and larger the number of statues, lesser the extent of democracy. All authoritarian government in the world, build larger than life size image of statues of leaders to create delusions of power and grandeur. This was evident in Soviet Union, North Korea, Saddam Iraq etc. Communist authoritarian government constructed their own pantheon of Demigods through innumerable statues. And the fall of authoritarian government was celebrated by bringing down the Demigods of delusions of power and grandeur.
The less democracy mean more statues. The problems with statue culture is that many time they create a theocracy out of democracy by making the ruling leaders as the deities of power or use the dead leaders as demigods and derive legitimacy from them.
Sardar Vallabhai Patel was a tall Congress Leader who fought for Freedom and totally opposed to RSS ideology. And his leader Gandhiji, , tallest Gujarathi in the history of India and the world, was shot dead by the very same people who tried to make a demigod out of Patel so as to steal his legacy to make a farce out of democracy. It is mocking real legacy of Sardar Patel and freedom struggle for democracy and the Constitution.
Patel statue is an evidence of the deep moral and political deficit of those small men who rule us with an ideology totally antithetical to that of the Congress and its tall leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Vallabhai Patel. Patel statue also has a subtext of promoting Gujarati sub-nationalism and caste politics within Gujarat to playing up on the Patel sentiment factor. Since Modi hardly got any leaders from RSS to showcase, he try to appropriate a Congress Leader to sell the Modi narcissism.
When a leader does not have vision for his country, he makes huge statues and big monuments. In fact all those who spent huge resources for creating delusions of power and grandeur faded away soon from power.
The money used for this statue was the money wrongly diverted from corporate social responsibility for a narcissist political project of a small leader who has delusions of power and grandeur. Sardar Vallabahi Patel sought to unite India. It is a grave sin committed to Sardar Patel when the most polarizing leader unveiling a statue of leader who united India by getting out of the royalty across India. India is now ruled by a Gujarati clique called AAAM (Ambani, Adani, Amit and M) and they are the new nexus economic -political Royalty, controlling everything.
When those who polarize unveil statue of unity, history is repeated as a farce. Democracy can not be a farce. Hence the enemies of democracy and unity of India will have to go..Then we will be doing justice to the real legacy of the real Sardar Vallabhai Patel.
